Thyssen-Krupp Reports Layoffs

There is some bad news for employees of a manufacturer in Hardeman County. According to the Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Thyssen-Krupp Elevator has layed off 22 employees for the longtime Middleton facility. The employees were laid off last Friday. The company, which has been in business since 1860, builds elevators and maintains elevators applications for its customers. Thyssen-Krupp is a global integrated materials and technology group with employees in 80 countries. In October 2010, the company laid off 52 workers citing the poor economy for its various layoffs over the past year.
