Child Abuse Prevention Month
The Exchange Club/Carl Perkins Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse held a celebration, Wednesday. It was all in recognition of “National Child Abuse Prevention Month”, which is celebrated in April. The theme for the celebration was “Peace, Love and Happy Children.” The Carl Perkins Center serves 13 West Tennessee counties, providing free services to children and families. “Child abuse doesn’t just happen in Chicago or New York. It happens right here in Jackson, Tennessee, Madison County and all over West Tennessee, said Sherry Stanfill, Madison County director of Services. “And so we need to get the word out to people that there’s still more work to be done and we want all children to have a safe, happy, healthy home.” Last year alone, the center helped more than 4,300 children in West Tennessee.
