The state comptroller has released information into what may have happened that lead to the arrest of a Middle Tennessee City Recorder causing her indictment on a theft charge. Sherry Gallien, 50, was indicted in January by a Wayne County grand jury on a theft charge of more than $60,000. State auditors said the woman used her position to take public funds and destroyed payment records to conceal her actions of putting the money into her account. Auditors said she allegedly took nearly $85,000 over a period of 27 months. Gallien was booked into the Wayne County jail but has been released on bond. She had worked for the city for 33 years.
