Alleged Craigslist Scammer Jailed

JACKSON, Tenn.- A Jackson man, accused of running an elaborate lease-to-own home-buying scam was arrested again after a court appearance. Police said some of his victims probably did not know that they were being scammed. Joey Morgan was in court, Friday on a previous theft charges. He was also accused of running a Craigslist scam where he worked as a middle man, taking a home from a legitimate owner and offering lease-to-own deals to individuals. Police said he was the only one getting the money. He is also charged with theft of property over $10,000 for the alleged theft of a vehicle from his former employer. Records showed Morgan was arrested in Jackson on August 3, accused of stealing a vehicle from a Jackson car dealer.
