Residents React: Haywood Co. Reports West Nile Case

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. – Several people have died from West Nile Virus since the beginning of the summer. Now, the threat of getting the disease from a mosquito bite is even closer after a new report that someone in Haywood County has been infected. “It’s a little scary considering my children play outside all the time but I just spray them down with bug spray every time we go out,” said Beth Mann. Harvey Holmes says he was surprised to find out the threat of West Nile had moved to where he lives. “I’m really surprised to hear that and I’m not surprised because I listened to the news the other night and they mentioned a few cases in some of our surrounding counties, so I was beginning to wonder if it will filter down into our county,” said Holmes. There are ten confirmed cases of the West Nile Virus in Tennessee.
