Quilt show coming to Land Between the Lakes
GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) – The Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area is sponsoring its 7th Annual Quilt Show at The Homeplace.
This year’s theme is flowers, which LBL Special Events Coordinator Cindy Earls said was a popular quilting theme in the early Victorian era. Earls said quilt patterns were created to look like favorite flowers as a way to bring the natural world indoors.
The weekend show includes 19th and 20th century flower patterned quilts ranging from simple patchwork to intricate applique. There will also be hands-on activities for children.
Land Between the Lakes is a 170,000-acre recreation area on the Kentucky-Tennessee border between the Cumberland and Tennessee rivers.
