Rockslide closes State Route 25 in Carthage

CARTHAGE, Tenn. (AP) – A portion of state route 25 in Carthage is closed in both directions after an early morning rockslide.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, workers were at the slide on Thursday afternoon to assess the damage. TDOT was planning to let an emergency contract for removing the larger rock and stabilizing the road. The agency said in a news release that officials don’t yet know how soon the road can be reopened.

To get around the rockslide, drivers must use the detour in place from state route 263 to route 85 to route 80.
