The Board received information that Judge Patey is suffering from “mental health issues that substantially interfere with the prompt, orderly, and efficient performance of Judge Patey’s duties.”

Judge Patey is prohibited from holding court, issuing subpoenas, setting or resetting cases, issuing warrants, setting or changing bonds, administrating oaths, or issuing oral or written rulings in any matter.

Patey’s suspension is effective immediately until further orders from the Board. Madison County will still have to compensate him until September 1 unless the Tennessee State Legislature steps in and removes him completely from the judge position.
