Titans’ Mariani battling back from gruesome injury

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee Titans wide receiver and kick returner Marc Mariani faces a tough battle coming back from the gruesome leg injury that sidelined him all of last season.

Mariani says he welcomes the challenge.

He broke the tibia and fibula in his left leg in an exhibition game with the Arizona Cardinals last summer. Mariani hopes to participate in some of the Titans’ organized team activities this offseason and wants be back on a full-scale basis by the start of training camp.

He will return to face increased competition.

Since his injury, the Titans boosted their receiving corps by signing Kevin Walter and drafting Justin Hunter. They also re-signed Darius Reynaud, who scored on two punt returns and one kickoff return last season.
