Investigators still probing deadly weekend fire

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) – Investigators from the Hamblen County Sheriff’s Department and the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing to probe the cause of a fire that killed a boy and his grandfather.
Sheriff Esco Jarnagin told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/16LzETz ) the cause of the fire on Saturday appears suspicious.
Killed in the blaze were 4-year-old James Barker and his 74-year-old grandfather, Willie Jarnigan, no relation to the sheriff. The boy’s father was also in the house but got out safely.
Authorities say the fire started about midnight Friday in a home south of Morristown. The fire appears suspicious, Jarnagin said.
Jarnagin says detectives hope to have some answers later this week.
