HARDIN CO., Tenn. – Hundreds of firefighters from Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee spent the weekend at Hardin County High School. The fifth annual Tennessee River Training weekend, hosted by the Hardin County Fire Department, is about saving the lives of citizens, and each other. One of the key focuses during the two day training is “Rapid Intervention Team Training” or RITT. It teaches firefighters how to save one of their own if he or she gets trapped, lost, or injured during a call. The firefighters from all different levels took part in the training, from seasoned veterans to new firefighters like Chase Bochette from the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency. “Yeah, I went to fire school back in June, so yeah, anything that I can do to improve my skills right now is extremely important,” Bochette said. The men and women also trained in advanced vehicle extraction, learning the latest techniques in saving someone from a burning or crushed car.
