Knox man charged in apparent road rage shooting

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Knox County man is charged with attempted murder after deputies say he shot one motorcyclist multiple times and backed his SUV into another.

According to the sheriff’s department, Rodney Lee Scott nearly struck the two motorcyclists with his SUV. The department says when they waved their arms, Scott made obscene gestures, then stopped his SUV in the street and backed into J.R. Trisler, knocking him over on his bike.

The sheriff’s department says a witness stopped to help, and the three followed Scott to his house and called police. Neighbors told deputies that Scott took two guns out of his garage and started shooting at the men in the street. The sheriff’s department says Scott struck Tyler Lakin four times and continued firing at him as he lay in the road.

Scott is jailed on $1 million bond.
