Woman charged in crash that killed Miss. deputy

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) – A New Albany woman is charged in the crash that killed a Union County sheriff’s deputy.
Authorities say 27-year-old Crystil M. Byers was arrested Friday. She’s charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving a fatality and culpable negligent manslaughter. It was not immediately clear whether she has an attorney.
The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and New Albany police say a preliminary investigation shows Byers caused the crash that killed Deputy Clint Frazier about 9 p.m. Wednesday. The crash happened on Mississippi Highway 178 just inside the Myrtle city limits.
Byers made a court appearance Friday and was ordered to be held on $375,000 in the Pontotoc County Jail.
