Chattanooga temp reaches record 71 degrees
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) – The weather might have been frightful over the weekend, but it wasn’t cold – at least not in Chattanooga.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press (http://bit.ly/1l9q2IJ) reports the high of 71 degrees on Sunday at the Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport set a record for Dec. 22.
The warm weather came with thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds but the newspaper reports Hamilton County was spared from the worst of the severe weather.
The rain was forecast to end by midday Monday and temperatures were expected to dip back down. The National Weather Service says temperatures were expected to reach a high of 50 on Monday.
