1st funeral Monday for 1st victim in death rampage

NEW ORLEANS (AP) – The first person killed in a rampage across two Louisiana parishes was to be buried Monday in Mississippi, under her maiden name. Denise Perry’s obituary dropped the name of the husband who strangled and drowned her, then took a shotgun to his former in-laws and the CEO of a hospital where he had been a nurse before turning it on himself.

The obituary posted by Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, Miss., said Perry was 43 years old and left a son and daughter.

Visitation for her third husband, Ben Edward Freeman, was scheduled Tuesday at a Lockport funeral home. Information was not yet available about the funerals of Susan “Pixie” Gouaux (GO) or hospital executive Milton Bourgeois.

Gouaux’s husband and daughter remained hospitalized; Bourgeois’ wife also was shot.
