Mental exam sought for alleged gang leader
HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) – A lawyer has asked a federal judge to order a psychiatric evaluation for a reputed Mississippi street gang leader charged with racketeering.
Attorney Peter Barrett asked for the exam for his client, Jason Marshall Bullock, in a court motion filed Monday in U.S. District Court in Hattiesburg.
Authorities say Bullock, also known as “Sir J-Mac,” is the leader of a Mississippi chapter of the Simon City Royals gang operating in the Hattiesburg area.
Bullock was indicted in May on the racketeering conspiracy charge. The indictment listed several elements of the racketeering charge, including attempted murder, kidnapping, bank robbery, drug distribution and bribery.
