JACKSON, Tenn.–A Jackson woman says she was asked to move after a tree fell into her apartment. Abaigail Hampton claims Park Trace Apartments did not fix damage caused by a storm earlier this month. “They were supposed to come in and even clean up the glass and the mess,” said Hampton. “As you can see, all of this is still here.” Hampton says strong storms on June 7 knocked over a tree by her unit. She says the complex agreed to fix the damage, but did not. “Everything that they have promised, they have not came through,” she said. Hampton says mold and mildew recently set in. “All of the clothes that was on that side of the wall, everything, all of my bed linen, everything, I had to throw away so much stuff,” she said. Hampton says a crew came to clean Tuesday, but she is not satisfied. “I know that the mold and mildew is still inside of the wall and I know that it can even be, it’s not just hazardous, but can be fatal,” she said. Hampton does not have renters insurance and claims the property manager asked her to move. However, management is not commenting. “I’m just in a desolate situation right now,” said Hampton. “I don’t know where I’m going, but I do know that I need to move.” Hampton says she has to be out of the apartment by the end of the month. The property manager at the complex declined to comment. WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News tried contacting the company who manages the complex and did not receive a phone call back.
