Henderson County inmate arraigned on felony escape charge

HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The inmate who escaped from jail and the woman who investigators say helped him appeared in court on Tuesday morning. David Pullam and Sandra Elkins were appointed an attorney during their arraignment. Pullam, who was serving time for aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and a DUI charge, is now facing a felony escape charge. Elkins, who investigators say is his girlfriend, is charged with facilitating escape. On June 21, Sheriff Brian Duke said Pullam scaled the fence of the jail when he was allowed to take out the trash alone. Pullam had been working in the kitchen as a dishwasher. Both will appear in court on Wednesday morning to set their preliminary hearing date. Elkins had her bond set at $16,000. Pullam did not have an indicated bond. The details of how Elkins helped Pullam haven’t been released.
