HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn — A man in Henderson County had almost $10,000 in cash and jewelry stolen while caring for his ailing wife. Charles Keller, 77, said he did not even realize most of the items from his home were missing until a day after they were taken. He said whoever stole from him knew when he would be away. “He ripped me off big time,” Keller said. According to Captain Tracey Grisham with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, the man who stole from Keller knew him pretty well. “This burglary, our victim is one house down from the defendant,” Captain Grisham said. Keller said he has even tried to help the suspect and his family in the past. “I’ve been trying to be good,” Keller said. “I went over and mowed his grass one time.” In just 24 hours, Kirk Redding was arrested on a count of aggravated burglary. Deputies said they identified him through a photo taken in Keller’s backyard. “He had a deer camera set outside his house,” Captain Grisham said. “He did have a picture of our suspect on this camera.” Keller said he lived in a quiet neighborhood until the Reddings moved in. “I’ve had no problems here until these folks moved in,” Keller said. “That was a couple of months ago, and then it started.” Keller said he hopes Redding gets what he deserves. “I hope he goes where he needs to go,” Keller said. “He will eventually. He needs to be put away.” According to the Henderson County Sheriff’s Department, Redding was released on $15,000 bond. They also say he spent most of the stolen cash before his arrest.
