State housing agency announces grant for revitalization project

DOWNTOWN JACKSON — State housing officials announce plans to give thousands of dollars for the revitalization of a local neighborhood. On Wednesday, representatives from the Tennessee Housing Development Agency announced they’re awarding more than $190,000 to the Jackson Housing Authority to revitalize homes between The Jackson Walk and Lambuth area. The grant will be available immediately and will be administered by Healthy Community, LLC. “I think the plan is to acquire homes, fix them up, offer them for sale on a mixed income basis, so that you can continue to attract folks that want to live downtown,” Ralph Perrey said, Exectutive Director of THDA. The project is part of the second phase of Healthy Community’s revitalization project. Healthy Community says construction is set to begin in 30 days, and will be finished in two to three years.
