Timeline of events surrounding the death of Olivia Greenlee

February 12, 2014 — Olivia Greenlee, 21, is found shot to death in her car around 8 a.m. in the parking lot behind Luther Hall on the Union University campus.

February 13, 2014 – Union brings in nine extra grief counselors on Thursday to help with students coping with the loss, and cancels all classes for the day. 

February 15, 2014 – Charles Pittman, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and tampering with evidence. Pittman and Greenlee were engaged and both students at Union.

February 16, 2014 – Union students say they are shocked to hear that a student could be accused of murder.

February 16, 2014 — A judge orders Pittman be held without bond.

February 16, 2014 – Crockett County church says Charles Pittman was a youth minister. Reverend Kellough said he saw Pittman and Greenlee together often in the church and said they seemed very happy together.

February 17, 2014 — Coworkers of Olivia Greenlee say Pittman stopped by her workplace at Longhorn’s Steakhouse looking for her on the night she allegedly was killed.

February 18, 2014 – Pittman is arraigned, and an affidavit says he gave investigators a different outfit when they asked to see the clothes he was wearing during his last meal with Greenlee. 

After investigators confronted him, he gave them the washed, bleached clothing seen on surveillance at dinner.

February 18, 2014 — Police say the gun used to kill Greenlee was stolen from Pittman’s roommate. There is no word yet on a possible motive.

February 18, 2014 – Police confirm Greenlee was shot once in the head and that there was nothing pointing to her suicide

February 27, 2014 — A mental evaluation is ordered for Pittman. The case is continued until after the results of the evaluation comes back.

May 10, 2014 — Union University students, faculty and community members remember Greenlee at a concert held in her honor.

July 10, 2014 — Pittman is scheduled to return to Jackson City Court at 1:30 p.m.
