JACKSON, Tenn.- Dozens of horses galloped into town Saturday night, all to benefit young boys battling addiction. Saturday’s walking horse competition was a time for horses to shine and charity to rise.”Fun riding, no heavy pads, heavy training just fun riding,” said competitor Paul Smith. This is not your typical horse show. This event focuses on the children competitors are helping. Teenage boys with drug and alcohol addictions. All of the proceeds will benefit the boys of youth town. For more than 50 years, the organization in south Jackson has been helping teenage boys overcome substance abuse. “A lot of our boys that come to youth town are under or uninsured for our treatment and it’s very expensive so we’re able to treat young men that for drug and alcohol treatment they wouldn’t normally be able to receive,” said youth town volunteer, Mike Roby.
