Searchers find boat, but not missing boater
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Search crews are expected back on Percy Priest Lake to continue looking for a boater whose vessel and truck were found unattended.
WSMV-TV in Nashville reported (http://bit.ly/1weumAV ) that rescuers were set to go back into the water during daylight Thursday to look for 49-year-old Troy Stafford.
Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officials say Stafford is believed to have gotten in his boat around noon Wednesday. He sent a text message to family members at about 4:30 p.m. CDT, but hasn’t been heard from since.
Authorities found Stafford’s boat in the water and said his truck and trailer were found nearby.
TWRA searchers have been looking near some of Stafford’s favorite fishing spots. As of 1 a.m. Thursday, the TWRA had two boats in the water looking for Stafford.
