Attorney: Assets, inheritance may be seized

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) – The attorney for the victim of a sex offender says any assets and inheritance the man has may be seized to settle a $1.8 million civil judgment stemming from five years of abuse.

Thomas West of Nashville, Tennessee says 35-year-old Jeffrey Lawan Renfrow’s family owns a sizable amount of land which may be transferred to the victim as part of the judgment.

West told The Daily News (http://bit.ly/1xdOxvm ) the judgment may serve as a deterrent to others who may consider such behavior.

U.S. District Judge Thomas B. Russell handed down the judgment Wednesday against Renfrow, who is serving a 30 year prison sentence after pleading guilty in Butler County to molesting the man. The victim, now an adult, no longer lives in Butler County.
