Band director accused of theft from fund-raiser

ARDMORE, Ala. (AP) – Authorities say the former band director at Ardmore High School, who recently resigned, is facing a theft charge following his arrest.

The Limestone County Sheriff’s Office says Jamie Alan Bowman is charged with first-degree theft. They arrested him Tuesday, December 2.

WHNT-TV reports that the Limestone County Board of Education last month reported money missing from the band’s fundraising effort.

School officials said several thousand dollars was missing.

The money was to help the school’s band go to Tampa, Florida for the Outback Bowl on New Year’s Day. Limestone County Superintendent Tom Sisk said the band will still make the trip.

Bowman said in an email to the Decatur Daily that he wouldn’t discuss “financial allegations” in the media because there hasn’t been a final resolution between everyone involved.
