JACKSON, Tenn. — The gym at Lane College was turned into an elaborate banquet hall Sunday afternoon as the school celebrated 133 years in existence. Students performed music, dinner was served and a sermon followed the meal led by Bishop Paul A.G. Stewart of the CME Church. The Founder’s Day banquet serves not only as a celebration but a fundraiser for student scholarships. “We have all of these friends and guests who have gathered to support our Founder’s Day and to help us raise some funds for some deserving students,” Lane College President Dr. Logan Hampton said. The college was founded in 1882 by Bishop Isaac Lane.
