Bledsoe County detective did not die from physical injury

PIKEVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Investigators say the death of a Bledsoe County sheriff’s detective whose body was found in a rural area was not caused by a physical injury.

Authorities say the body of Detective Ricky Seals was found Tuesday on a dirt road in a field near Pikeville. Authorities said his body was found on the ground, in front of his vehicle.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says a preliminary autopsy shows Seals did not die from any physical injury. However, the medical examiner will not be able to determine a more specific cause of death until final toxicology results are available.

TBI is the lead investigative agency in the case, with help from the Bledsoe County Sheriff’s Department.
