Prescribed fires planned at Big South Fork, Daniel Boone
ONEIDA, Tenn. (AP) – National Park Service fire crews will be conducting prescribed fires within Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and the Daniel Boone National Forest during the next few weeks.
The fires are intended to help promote species diversity and reduce woodland ground fuels. Afterward, the areas will have an enhanced wildlife habitat.
Big South Fork says the fires will be within the boundaries of the park, which lies on the Tennessee-Kentucky border.
