2 decades after crash, Willis family gets new TV show

CHICAGO (AP) – A new TV show is set to focus on the grandchildren of a couple who lost six kids in a 1994 van crash that was linked to the investigation and conviction of former Illinois Gov. George Ryan.

The Chicago Sun-Times (http://bit.ly/1G1QGmd ) reports the show about the Tennessee-based Willis family will premiere May 5 on TLC. The 12 grandchildren, ages 4 to 22, have a band called The Willis Clan and have performed at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville and last summer on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent.”

The grandchildren’s father, Toby Willis, was not in the van when his siblings were killed.

The new show will follow the family’s work on an album that’s scheduled to release in May, as well as other aspects of day-to-day life.
