State investigating Maryville officer who shot suspect
MARYVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – The state is investigating after a Maryville Police officer shot a man while responding to a domestic disturbance call.
Maryville Police Chief Tony Crisp told The Daily Times (http://bit.ly/1DjomcC) the call came in just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. He did not otherwise describe the circumstance that led to officer Kevin Fuller shooting Jason Halfacre. Crisp said Fuller is on routine paid leave while the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation investigates.
Justin Borden said he was staying with a friend at a nearby home when he heard the gunshot.
He said he walked outside to see Halfacre rolling around on the ground and screaming, while Fuller shouted, “Where’s your gun? Where’s your gun?”
Halfacre was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center. Hospital staff would not release information on him.
