Knox County man claims $50 million Powerball jackpot
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – A Knox County man has claimed a $50 million Powerball jackpot from a drawing in March.
Michael Duncan told lottery officials Friday in Nashville that he’s not a regular lottery player but did buy a single ticket after seeing a lottery sign at Rocky Top Market in Harriman. He said he based the numbers he chose on family members’ ages.
The ticket matched the six numbers drawn on March 21 for the $50 million jackpot. Duncan chose the lump-sum cash payment of $33.5 million instead.
The Tennessee Lottery said in a news release that it is the third largest prize in the state lottery’s history and the second Powerball jackpot win in Tennessee in a year. A Knoxville man won $259.8 million in June.
