Memphis police: Girl, 15, fatally shot while lying in bed
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Police say a 15-year-old girl was shot and killed while she was in her bed in her home in Memphis.
Memphis police said officers responded to a shooting at about 2 a.m. Friday. Officers found the girl unresponsive, and she was pronounced dead by paramedics.
Police say a 63-year-old man who was inside the home also was shot. He was taken to a hospital in noncritical condition.
A preliminary investigation shows that several shots were fired into the home from the street outside the house. Sgt. Alyssa Macon-Moore, a police spokeswoman, says investigators have not determined if the shots were fired from a moving vehicle or by someone on foot.
Investigators are seeking the public’s help because they do not have a description of the suspect who fired the shots.
