Oak Ridge solar developers plan projects in Knox, Cumberland

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. (AP) – Oak Ridge has a new solar farm, and the companies that developed it say they are planning similar projects in Knox and Cumberland counties.

Paul Clay is president of Restoration Services Inc. He told the Knoxville News Sentinel (http://bit.ly/1NZ9a6b ) the Knox County project will be in the Mascot area. The Cumberland County array will be at the Plateau Partnership Park. That’s a joint economic development effort of Roane, Morgan and Cumberland counties. Construction on both projects should begin in June.

Clay said negotiations are under way for other projects in Loudon County and the Cookeville area.

Restoration Services is working with Vis Solis, Inc., on the projects. Power from the Oak Ridge array will flow into the Tennessee Valley Authority grid, providing enough energy to run 133 average-sized homes.
