New deputy superintendent announced at Great Smoky Mountains

GATLINBURG, Tenn. (AP) – A new deputy superintendent has been selected for Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Superintendent Cassius Cash announced Tuesday that Clayton F. Jordan will replace Patty Wissinger, who died in June.

Jordan has been Resource and Visitor Protection Division chief since 2010 and recently was the park’s acting superintendent and acting deputy.

He is a New York native and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts. He has been in park resource and visitor protection operations for 29 years, also serving at Gulf Islands National Seashore and Shenandoah National Park.
