Police: 12-year-old charged with stabbing man in chest
KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) – A 12-year-old boy has been charged with aggravated assault after police say he stabbed a man in the chest at a Kingsport apartment.
The Kingsport Times-News reports (http://bit.ly/1QcwVZp ) officers received a call Tuesday night about a fight between two adult males, according to a statement from the Kingsport Police Department.
Police say upon arrival they found a 44-year-old man with a stab wound to his chest.
Police say the man had been arguing with a 52-year-old male when the confrontation turned physical, with the 12-year-old later producing a knife and inflicting the wound.
The victim was taken to a local medical facility. As of Wednesday afternoon, he remained hospitalized in stable condition.
Police have declined to release additional information, including the identities of those involved.
