Undercover officer shot while serving warrant; 3 in custody

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) – Three people have been taken into custody following a shooting that involved an undercover officer who was injured while serving a warrant.

WMC-TV reports (http://bit.ly/1J7zFHc ) the shooting took place Wednesday night at a Memphis apartment complex.

Police say the officer, who was working for the Organized Crime Unit, was serving a warrant when someone shot through the door of an apartment.

The officer was hit in the chest but was wearing a bullet-proof vest and was not critically injured. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center.

Police say the shooter was barricaded inside the apartment for several hours before two men and one woman surrendered to police early Thursday morning.

The names of the three individuals in custody and the name of the officer have not been released.
