JACKSON, Tenn. — Runners in the Hub City got their Independence Day started with the third annual Flag Waving Family Fun Run that kicked of Saturday morning shortly after seven. Participants ran a 4-mile square around the Union campus while waving flags, chanting and singing. One of the runners said he loves this run because it gives him a chance to show his appreciation for freedom. “I was born in Canada and I’m an American citizen now, and being patriotic means a lot to me because of the freedoms that we enjoy in America that people that are born here take for granted,” runner Martin Jelinek said. The event coordinator said more than 50 people showed up and participated in the run.
