One individual arrested following barricade situation in Parsons

PARSONS, Tenn. – One man is in jail following a barricade situation that lasted several hours in Parsons on Saturday, April 18.

According to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office, the Parsons Police Department requested assistance from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office in serving a warrant in the 800 block of Georgia Avenue South in Parsons.

The Sheriff’s Department said that deputies arrived and responded with Parsons Police Department to serve the warrant. Officers made contact with the individual, identified as Bruce Anthony Rosson, and then Rosson barricaded himself inside a shed. While barricaded, Rosson claimed to be armed with a firearm and threatened to harm anyone that tried to enter the shed.

“A perimeter was quickly established, an additional personnel from the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office and Parsons Police Department responded. After several hours of an active standoff and unsuccessful negotiations, incident command was established. Assistance was then requested from the Perry County Sheriff’s Office, the Jackson Police Department SWAT and Negotiation Team, and the 24th Judicial District Attorney’s Office,” said the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

“Upon arrival, Jackson Police Department SWAT assumed unified command alongside Chief Woodward and Sheriff King in an effort to safely resolve the situation. After several more hours of negotiations, SWAT personnel deployed additional tactics and successfully removed Mr. Rosson from the structure,” said the sheriff’s office.  “Through these coordinated efforts, Mr. Rosson was taken into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported.”
