HENDERSON COUNTY, Tenn. — Over the weekend, more than 300 smoke detectors were installed free of charge for homeowners. Henderson County Fire Department officials said they were chosen by the State Fire Marshal’s Office to spearhead the giveaway. Firefighters knocked on doors in different parts of the county and installed the smoke detectors on the spot. It is not too late to get your own smoke alarm. Firefighters expect to install more within the next four weeks.
