JACKSON, Tenn. — Jackson police identified a suspect arrested near the scene of a Saturday night shooting off Oil Well Road in north Jackson as Gregory Sails. Sails has been charged with evading arrest and drug possession and could be charged with a weapons count. Court documents say witnesses reported seeing Sails run from the area where shots were fired between two cars on Oil Well Road. Those who live near the scene say it’s concerning that it happened so close to their doorsteps. “Well, that was the last thing I thought it was going to be. I just thought it was a wreck,” said Judy Mascolo who lives near the scene. “I saw that everything was shut down. The police cars were everywhere, so immediately I was concerned about my kids and my family.” Mascolo was one of many north Jackson residents who had to take an alternate route home Saturday night after Jackson police shut down a section of Oil Well Road following the shooting that left at least one car crashed. “When people are just randomly shooting at each other, those bullets don’t have eyes, and it’s just crazy that you could go out and get hurt or killed from a random act like that,” Jackson resident Bill Wyatt said. Jackson police are not releasing any details about other possible suspects or a motive but say the case is still under investigation. Investigators say they’re still looking for an older model, tan sedan they believe was involved in the shooting. If you have information that could help with the investigation, call Jackson police at 731-425-8400 or Crime Stoppers at 731-424-TIPS (8477). Cash rewards could be available.
