Crockett Co. team heading to World Series

MAURY CITY, Tenn. – The third time was the charm for Crockett County’s dixie youth baseball team in the state championship. After two consecutive years as runner-ups, the group of all-stars won it all. Their prize is a trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for the World Series. “I’m just proud of them,” head coach Brett Lewis said. “This is an awesome group of kids.” The Crockett County team will now carry the title West Tennessee All-Stars on the bigger stage. “We’re trying to keep them calm and their heads in the ball game,” Lewis said about the team’s excitement level. “They’re getting antsy about the trip.” The team departs on Friday for South Carolina.
