JACKSON, Tenn. — More Tennessee drivers on the road requires more highway patrol presence to keep drivers’ Labor Day Travel safe and secure. That’s exactly the need members of the Tennessee Highway Patrol are ready to fill for the three-day weekend, bumping up their coverage for Labor Day. Regardless of rank, every member of the force will be out this weekend, including those using helicopters to look below. Lt. Brad Wilbanks tells us why Tennessee drivers should treat their time spent on the road just like any other day. “It’s senseless — there is no reason for anyone to die on a Tennessee roadway,” Wilbanks said. “Buckle up, drive safe, sober, don’t drive distracted — these are things, big things we are looking for every day.” In Tennessee, more than 600 people have died in traffic-related accidents since the start of 2015.
