JACKSON, Tenn. — A local church went to work on Labor Day to raise funds for projects to help better their community. Highland Park Church had dozens of volunteers selling Boston butts, ribs and chickens they cooked as part of a fundraiser. Church leaders say the money raised will go back into the neighborhood near their church. “We’re just going to do a couple of rehab projects in the community. People that have been in violation in city court but can’t afford the repairs, we’re going to do that for them and so we’re just barbecuing, raising money for that,” said Paul Riddle, pastor of Highland Park Church. They’re hoping to start their service projects in the next few weeks.
