University of Tennessee Martin head football coach Jason Simpson has seen some good Ohio Valley Conference teams during his 10 years with the Skyhawks. But none like Jacksonville State. “In my 10 years by far the most talented OVC team that we’ve ever faced,” Simpson said about the Gamecocks. “They’re outstanding, well coached and good players.” The Skyhawks play top-ranked Jacksonville State on Saturday for their conference opener. Following a 73-10 rout versus Bethel in Week 2, UTM used their bye week to rest some injured players. “Had a really good week of practice, four days last week,” Simpson said. “Had to nurse a lot of guys back to health.” The Skyhawks and Gamecocks play at 2 p.m. at Hardy Graham Stadium. The contest will be available on ESPN3.
