MILAN, Tenn. – It’s hard for Tennessee Titan Avery Williamson to go unnoticed when he steps foot in Milan. The linebacker became the first purple Bulldog to make a 53-man roster last year. The town honored their local star with a city sign along Highway 45 East on Friday afternoon. “It’s crazy; it’s surreal,” Williamson said. “I never would have imagined that I would have a street sign. The fact that my city thinks that much of me means a lot.” Williamson did more than just earn a spot on the roster with the Tennessee Titans. After making his first start in Week 4, he finished the season with the franchise record for total tackles by a rookie. “It’s happening fast. Seems like last year, I was just trying to make the team,” Williamson added. “Now, they’re doing things like this. It’s truly a blessing. It’s happening fast, but I’m enjoying the whole process of it.” Williamson wrapped up Titans mini-camp on Thursday. He’s excited to report back to camp in late July. “That’s what I’m mainly focused on — having a good year. We want to give those fans something to come to the game and be excited about.” Williamson was accompanied by family, friends and former coaches during Friday’s unveiling. The sign can be seen going North along Route 45E.
