HUNTINGDON, Tenn. — Huntingdon police said they believe a single thief was quite busy Sunday night, busting through doors of four local businesses looking for cash. Authorities said they believe the person was a white man. Surveillance cameras showed the suspect in and out of one business in 15 minutes, getting away with an undisclosed amount of cash. “All of them are closed during the night,” Capt. Johnny Hill told WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News Monday. “Outside of that, there’s nothing that we can say would have caused them to hit all of these businesses at one time.” Authorities said they believe the burglar used rocks to break in glass doors. Local business owners said it is frustrating that this type of crime happens. “It’s very disturbing that they’re taking advantage of the small business owners and the elderly in Huntingdon and Carroll County,” Huntingdon business owner Miles Wilkes said. For now, authorities said they are working to identify this masked man. “Right now, we’re working on just some leads that we’ve got,” Hill said. “We’re just kind of beating the bushes to try and figure out what’s going on.” A number of store owners WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News talked with Monday said they are planning on improving their buildings’ security with cameras and alarms. Authorities said when captured, the suspect will face four counts of burglary. If you know anything about this crime or can identify the person involved, call Huntingdon police at 731-986-5310.
