MEDINA, Tenn. – South Gibson’s football team has never faced a team like Liberty Tech. “We’re getting ready to play the most talented football team we’ve played in our school’s history,” South Gibson head coach Scott Stidham said. “Liberty has got players everywhere.” The praise for the Crusaders is well deserved. Liberty Tech is ranked fourth in the state in the Class 3A rankings, and one of four remaining undefeated local teams. “We’ve gotta try to stop the big play, and that’s easier said than done,” Stidham said. “Because they’re so good and so explosive.” The 6-1 Hornets are only one game behind Liberty Tech in the region standings. South Gibson suffered their first loss last week against Westview. “Every week, we’re playing a good team. This region is so tough,” Stidham said about the Region 7. “It’s not like it gets easier before or after this.” “There’s going to be a couple of good football teams that don’t make the playoffs. There just are. Only four get to make it and we have a lot more than four in this region.”
