SOUTH JACKSON, Tenn. – South Side’s volleyball team has a chance to do two things on Wednesday. The first is a chance at redemption against Page, who eliminated the Lady Hawks last year in the state tournament. The second is stay in the winner’s bracket. “Drawing Page was not a good start. Most coaches predict them to win the tournament this year,” head coach Tommy Dean said. “But anything can happen. I told them we’re going to do the best we can do and stay positive.” South Side earned their second consecutive trip to Murfreesboro with a 3-0 win against Covington in sectionals. Dean believes his team is peaking at the right time. “Maybe three weeks left in the season, there’s been nothing I had to do. It seems like they came together,” Dean said. “Pulling so hard for each other, and you know you always want to gel at tournament time. We were fortunate this happened.” “We had to beat some really good teams to even have a chance to go. We’re very blessed to get to go. It never gets old.” The Lady Hawks play Page at Middle Tennessee State University on Wednesday at 11 a.m. on Court 1.
