JACKSON, Tenn — A local Wal-Mart pays teachers a visit Thursday with gifts to better their classroom. Representatives with the Wal-Mart in South Jackson dropped in at Alexander Elementary School Thursday afternoon to give out gift cards to each teacher. Store officials said they hope their donation can help make teaching and learning a bit easier, while school officials said they’re thankful for the help. “My teachers are using a lot of money out of their pocket to buy supplies for their children,” Principal at Alexander Elementary, Dr. Deborah Freybooks said. “Paper, pencils, erasers, sharpeners – all those types of things come out of their pocket so any help is always appreciated.” Each teacher got a $50 gift card with which they can use to buy supplies and snacks for their students.
