Weather Update- 10AM
Overnight we saw scattered showers and some lightning light up the night sky as a low front pushed through West Tennessee. We didn’t see as severe thunderstorms as our neighbor Arkansas did, but a Flash Flood watch was issued for the western border counties and will expire at 10 this morning. Right now there are still showers and thunderstorms lingering along the west and northern half of the state, but it isn’t quite done yet. We are under a slight risk for severe weather the rest of the day and we will continue to see scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm as the day goes on and into tomorrow morning. Temperatures right now are in the low to mid 60s across all of West Tennessee.
Temperatures are going to cool off this weekend and all of next week, but because of the weather we are seeing, it is going to feel relatively humid outside. Overcast skies should be expected today and Sunday, seeing that we do have a marginal risk for severe weather tomorrow. After this low pressure system pushes through today, we will have a cold front start to move into the area, which is what is going to give us cooler temperatures, but they will remain in the low to high 70s the rest of the week. Nothing below a high of 70 is likely. Since we do have another system pushing across Tennessee, showers and thunderstorms will become more widespread Sunday. It all depends on how fast this cold front will move to when we will see an end to the rain.
To start the work week off, we do have a slight chance for showers with temperatures much cooler than they are expected to be the rest of the weekend. Tuesday will bring a higher chance for rain or thunderstorms, but finally, come Wednesday and through the rest of the week will possibly see dry conditions with the greatest chance for some sunshine being Thursday. Temperatures will also climb back up into the 80s. Stay with the VIPIR 7 Storm Team for the very latest updates as this forecast is subject to change.
